So I was talking to Allie the other day and mentioned wistfully that I was looking forward to playing Katniss. She said, just be a Katniss expy! So here it is: I put Katniss and Matt (SUmmers) in a blender and made this:

BIO

Jaime was abandoned by her birth-parents at a young age, and lived for several years in a foster home with two other children, Ellen (the mom) and Ellen's mother Violet. Jaime was Violet's favorite, and they grew close, until she was adopted at age six. As a child, she was quiet at first -- foster care tends to make one a more private person, even that young -- but overall she had a pretty normal childhood, public school, friends coming over, popsicles and community pool visits in the summer. Things got rougher in junior high when Jaime discovered her true heritage, much to her (and her parents') surprise and dismay. She had trouble controlling her powers at first, and there were a few very awkward situations. She decided she was still interested in boys (and maybe girls) but perhaps it might be best to put dating on hold until she figured out a way around her condition. Besides getting asked about it once in awhile, her life didn't change much for the decision.

 

 

Jaime became curious about learning the guitar and tried her hand at it, with surprising success. She found she had a decent voice, but it started evoking siren-like effects, so she stopped. Though she never had much interest in school, she also started looking into mythology and lore and became pretty sure she was a siren. She even started thinking about ways to find her birth-parents. Then when she was fifteen two men broke into her family's home, robbed it, and killed her foster parents. They were going to kill Jaime, too, but then they touched her, the siren's effect took hold, and they decided to just rape her and leave instead (they left some of the stuff, too, because the siren's effects also slow the mind like a drug). In their impaired state, they were quickly found and arrested.

 

She was going to be placed in another foster home after the arrest but decided, fuck that, and ran away instead with the remainder of her family's valuables (most of which she sold or pawned, but a few of which she kept). The first place she went was to visit Violet, now in a home and dealing with dementia. To her surprise, Violet not only recognized her (there were hugs and tears), but asked her for a favor -- to find Violet's estranged son from an affair decades ago, and give him a letter from her. Not having much in the way of other business, Jaime took on the quest. She travels, stays in cheap motels, sometimes rides the rails when she can get away with it. She charms her way into jobs at bars when she can, hustles pool, and occasionally herself. The men are practically catatonic by the end, so it's quite lucrative, depending on how much cash they're carrying. It's just not her preferred method is all. Since her parents' murder, she hates her siren powers and no longer has any interest in finding her birth-parents (so she tells herself, anyway). She also wears long sleeves and gloves to prevent contact. She keeps a few mementos from the Wyatts, but none is as dear to her as Violet's letter, now very worn from folding and refolding after the many times she has read it. She knows it's for Violet's son, but sometimes Jaime pretends it's for her, a tangible reminder that there is still someone on Earth who loves her like a daughter. She also carries pepper spray and a knife -- she's not particularly skilled with it, but she's used it successfully more than once.

PERSONALITY

No, seriously, Jaime's rough around the edges. She's pessimistic as a lifestyle choice, mistrustful, and generally antisocial. She lets her guard down occasionally, usually in the water. She *wants* to trust people. She's not a totally hopeless case. Oh, also, she is wry and sardonic all over the place.

Jaime, if she lets herself, will change quickly to suit the person she's with, in voice, demeanor, opinions, even appearance (usually not enough to get her noticed for it).

Her sweat/skin oils and saliva contain megadoses of oxytocin. Meaning physical contact with her will evoke feelings of affection, desire and/or well-being. This also tends to lower inhibitions and enhance pliability. Echoes of some of these effects are also evoked by her singing/guitar playing.
